Hence the urgency to bomb japan before it was over in Asia.

Yes they could have invaded japan with conventional army and weapons. The Russians had beat them to it, and would have occupied japan well before the American’s (allied) has launched an invasion.

Of note is, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were chosen as they had few POW in those places.

its odd how america never dropped the bomb on germany but dropped it on japan.Ethnicity comes into question for sure. A huge persent ofthe american population(even today) is of german ancestory.At first america was reluctant to go to war with hitler.

but on the other hand, if america would have tried to invade/conquer japan, hell they would be able to do it. But the kamakazi would make sure as hell that there would be severe american loses as well.

America has done it before
fought a ‘cowardly’ war, burnt and vapourised civilians
and convinced the world they did it only for the good of humanity.

with minimum damage to only THEMSELVES
they will use their nukes as an ATTACK weapon to destroy others.
