Thinking tactically, it does seem plausible that area is the one in Pakistan which is of most interest to energy companies. I would remind you what happened in secular Iraq : it was torn apart by fomented religious strife. If you can induce people to fight each other, they have much less interest in bothering you. Such seems to be the pattern all throughout the arc of oil bearing countries. I fear intrigue unimaginably vile and ambitious, where no one can feel the cause of peace is being served. The Pakistani economy is collapsing. Soon they will have misery enough and more: not that I expect that to improve their disposition. When the neighbours are restless it can be a problem.
