forever young – bob dylan

Posted by littleindian on June 20, 2007. |

My mind ran away without me knowing.

At 70mph
on a motorway
driving back home
auto pilot switches on.
Staring at the tail lights
matching speed for speed
keeping 1.5 seconds behind
any vehicle immediately in front.

Playing a disc that never gets changed,
to always listen to the lyrics of a Mr Bob Dylan
and then not hearing as my mind starts to drift

Reflecting on the past, on my past
my own journey more than half done.
Many failures, few successes, but no regrets,
No regrets! No, for I know I have given it my best shot.
I have played fair, never bowed down, never hung my head in shame.

To all you young ladies and gentlemen
just starting on your own journeys, I wish you these lyrics of Mr Bob Dylan.

Forever Young – Bob Dylan

Forever young Bob Dylan
May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong
,
May you stay forever young,

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young.

Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

  1. Little Indian, what a beautiful post! And a very apt choice of lyrics. There’s always time for Bob Dylan.

When you say you’ve no regrets because you gave it your best shot and you always played fair . . . I believe you.

  2. Driving seems to be the best time to think, these days.

    Thank you earthpal,
    thank you for believing.
    Like I say, many failures,
but never failed on my principles. Yet.

  3. Lovely lyrics – in fact I am listening to Big Yellow Taxi – now with different frame of mind….!

And yeah I shared this one with my colleagues…. 🙂
    Thanks ~

  4. Thanks bendtherulz.
I feel we appreciate the same kind of music.

I now realise how much songs play on our subconscious.
How much a song relates to some of our life’s events.
How much we do get influenced by the words.

  5. That is so true Little Indian.

We couldn’t live without music. I always take notice of song lyrics. I am particularly attracted to songs with social messages in them but I love poetic love songs too.

  6. Wonderful!
Mr Dylan has been one of my favourites always

  7. Thanks S,

    What can I say,
    his words does his talking.
For him and sometimes on behalf of others.

    I pinched his song here,
no one else’s I know of, beats it in this context.
