thanks msCutePants

Away from my usual hideout,
in Kolkata, tucking in the traditional ileesh fish and rice – and all things tasty and nice,
I was surprised to receive an email alert from my blogspage that my site had received an award!!!

From an old (blogging) friend of mine – MsCutePants of ISLAS BELLAS.

As I am unable to attend in person, this is my acceptance speech beamed through broadband –

As my friends know,
I have not written anything for months,
so it not only was a surprise, its nice to know I still have my friends,
even more my previous efforts, however amateurish, have not been forgotten.

The Award:

The Brilliant Blog Award

The Brilliant Weblog Award
is given to sites and blogs that are smart and brilliant both in their content and their design.
The purpose of the prize is to promote as many blogs as possible in the blog sphere.

The rules to be followed are:

1. When you receive the prize you must write a post showing it, together with the name of who has given it to you, and link back to them.
2. Choose a minimum of 7 blogs (or even more) that you find brilliant in content or design.
3. Show their names and links and leave them a comment informing them that they have been awarded with the ‘Brilliant Weblog’ award.
4. Show a picture of those who awarded you and those you give the prize to (optional).

I know there are many blogs, many more than seven that deserves this award.
More than I.

I have been away from the blogs world for a long time,
many of the bloggers I used to enjoy reading I find no longer writes.
So I will browse through my blogroll and blogsurfer for my nominations.
I apologise for being unable to name all in one go, I’ll keep adding to my list as I go along.

Nominations:

These are the blogs that truly deserves this award.

1. Nikita of Chessalee
she is passionate about chess – and loooooooooves cricket. Something in the lay out of her site that makes it a pleasure to visit

2. Mahak at Mind flirting with thoughts
not just because her blog is always attractive, nor because she writes on many subjects, but I have found many of my thoughts reflected in her writings.

3. Allirekha of My desert which is always green. I found this blogger through a comment she left on my site. I was amazed to find she is only 15, the youngest blogger I have come across. A blog I visit whenever I have the time to blog hop.

I will be completing the list gradually. Patience, they say, is a virtue.

5 September I have found my next two nominations.

4. Naj at Neo-resistance Her blog it says is about fairness; about looking at objects from multiple perspectives – and has always lived up to it. To me that is priceless. Her presentation is artistic.

5. Zenfrog at The Zenfrog for true peace. I am unable to describe the peace and tranquility of this site, you have to experience it yourself.

5 September Someone for whose blog this award is taylor made.

6. Has to be My Soul at Experiments in Writing. “A dreamer with the head in the Clouds and feet on the Ground”. This blog is way past the experimental phase and has been lifted into its own orbit.

23 September And after a long long search I have found my last nomination.

7. It is Rupsa at Life, death and across. She seems new in the world of blogs. I almost accidentally found her site – the name intrigued me. I found a blogger who thinks laterally, an attribute I always admire. Hopefully this award will encourage her to continue to share her thought.

Finally:

Yeah, yeah –
I know, in true ‘Oscars’ fashion I have been rambling,
but I would like to say thanks to

1. MsCutePants – this award might bring me out of my bloglethargy.
2. Ruff – the tuff scruff – my blog logging friend who always sits next to me when I write.

ADDED ON 6th SEPTEMBER

I am one to always challenge the norms, the rules.
So deviating from the above rules of the award, and risking my friend’s disappointment
I say to my nominees,
I leave it to you to decide if you wish to continue to nominate –
after all its aimed to bring recognition to others who also deserve to be known.

I accept it is not always easy to perpetuate awards.

So you can defer nominations to when its convenient for you,
or stagger it as I have been doing
or simply accept the award.

Whatever you choose is fine by me.
I would be happy if you accept and display the award – for you truly deserved it.

Bomb blasts in ahmedabad

Unborn, yet blown up – Doctor, pregnant wife die in blast

From: Telegraph India

Ahmedabad, July 27: As an orthopaedic surgeon at Civil Hospital, Prerak Shah, 32, would have been preparing for a busy night tending to one blast injured after another as they were wheeled in.

Instead, he was blown up with his wife and unborn child as last evening’s terrorists made the hospital their 16th and last target, hitting the injured a second time and turning a healer into a victim.

The bomb went off in a car in the parking lot as the young doctor and his wife, who had just arrived for a gynaecological check-up, walked past the trauma centre yards from the site.

Many indoor patients left the hospital today. Amid the atmosphere of fear came news that a car bomb had been defused near the trauma ward of Surat’s Puna Hospital. It was a Maruti 800, with a Vadodara registration.

I can no longer believe they too deserve any human rights
the world would be a better place for other humans
the sooner they are exterminated.

Its beyond human tolerance.

a bathday to be happy!

They all sang happy bathday.

Did any of you know of a special day for doggies to have a bath!! And then be happy!!!
I do not like baths, I may take a dip in a muddy puddle, once in a while.
But not baths, and smelling clean and fresh.

I am ruff,
a tuff scruff
if you have ever seen one, … how could I be happy?

And they said I was two!
I am not.
I looked and I looked
but I couldn’t find the other me.

Ruff - the tuff little dog
I looked at my refreclection on the glass door,
one head,
four paws,
one hungry tummy,
and well, my tail does wag nineteen to the dozen
what can a dog do when given crunchie munchies, I ask you.

I am still just one self, the only Ruff.

Everybody gave me a pat
and they gave me lots of crunchie munchies,
I didn’t even have to be good. I wasn’t complaining.

It was a day special of some sort.
They said next year
I would be three…

And after all that singing, they forgot to give me the bath.

Ruffy boy is now two years old.

what if: our souls … a food for thought?

.. as we believe, we the humans are not the superior beings?

Never at the top of the food chain, but the very end of it?

Like the fodder will never recognise the predator,
like the grass that will never know what the cattle looks like,
or like the tree is unaware that it’s parts are deemed a delicacy,
what if we too are oblivious of the reality of our existence
we do not recognise our predators?

What if our predators are from a different universe or a different dimension,
perhaps even a different reality?
What if we are just being herded in a human farm – the Earth?
Being fattened only to be harvested as sustenance of an even superior entity?

Like we relish flesh, blood and muscles of other lifeforms
what if it is our souls,
(and of all life-forms known or still alien,)
that somewhere in space-time is being savoured and relished ?

All our souls
dripping with our egos, greed, vanity, thirst for wealth and for power,
the fortune of the victorius ruler exulting at the anguish of the vanquished,
will all one day come to nothing more than just an appetiser at a celestial banquet?

Just a thought,

what ifs?

are the results of an idle mind drifting laterally
from and along the thoughts and beliefs of the norm, cannot be proved, cannot be disproved either – littleindian

how do I count love

It is exactly three years today that she went away.
My bestest friend.
My Ma.

She left me her love and affection.
In a jar.

Whenever she missed me, I am told
she would cut out or draw pictures of flowers, birds, butterflies,
on the flip side of each she wrote,
‘ma’s love and affection’.

ma's love and affection

How many?
I cannot count.
There are thousands.

I was away from her for fifteen years.
She must have missed me everyday for every year that I was away.
I had hoped someday I would be back with her, so did she.
But we ran out of time.

She had missed me for fifteen years,
she has left me to miss her for the rest of my life.

If there is an afterplace beyond this reality, I know she will still be waiting for me.
